??? Moderators closed the last thread for a reason. I know you are upset, but let it go. Do not be so quick to come down on 18yr olds, because I can give you a list of my 18yr old friends that are fighting or have died in Iraq. I am also sure there are a lot of 24+yr old folks here that could say the same thing to you, and they do not, so give those younger then you the same respect. Even at 97 my great uncle still says there is so much more for him to experience. (Arch bishop of Green Bay, close personal friend of Pope John Paul II, red cross volunteer in Africa during WWII, good friend of Vince Lombardi(even has his second super bowl ring), and on and on) I have seen little in this forum posted as *fact* people here just want to offer their opinions, help, and advice, right or wrong. Debate topics can become very heated which is why they laid down rules for the forums.

Sorry Quincy if your found my post out of line, I tried to be respectful, this post poked me a little too much not to get my two cents in.

AB -

Threads are closed for a reason. If a thread is closed, either myself or a super moderator has decided that it has gotten out of hand, and so off-topic as to be more destructive to the forum that productive. Myself and the staff agree that the thread in question needed to be closed in order to keep a civil peace.

I appreciate your concern, but I do not feel your attitude is of merit. I own this website, and I make the rules. If you do not feel a need to follow or respect them there are plenty of "free for all" forums that aren't moderated at all.

I'll take order over chaos anyday.

We'll continue to close threads if they get out of hand, and we'll continue to justify our position to nay-sayers.

As for my age, yes...I am 18 years old. Is there a problem with that? Check your stereotypes about rebellious teenagers at the door, please...I don't appreciate them. I'll also remind you that the majority of the staff is older, and they would do the same thing by closing the threads that get out of hand.

If you continue to carry your attitude in this thread, AB, you'll find it closed as well. I'm not going to bend any rules to suit your idea of what a forum should be.

-Mike

I only wish I had been more "on the ball", when I was younger! Personally, I have found no age discrimination aimed towards anyone, at any end of the spectrum at this site. One of the most interesting and enlightening coversations I've ever had, was in this forum. This was a hot debate topic, and the person at the other end of this converstion, was 14 years old. I am 49.

I was involved in one thread which was deemed as less than productive to all, so it didn't bother me at all that it was discontinued!

If you enjoy and appreciate what this forum has to offer, which I do, it's good idea to see what a great collection of folks keep coming back to share and learn...people of ALL ages and beliefs.

I'm a member of several forums. IMO, this one tops the list.

Just take a look at the membership growth. Lately, we've been getting around 10 new members per day. Cool...

I'm 18. I used to not like to share my age because of people's automatic prejudice against my age. However, I'm at the point where if you want to ignore what I have to say or give it no merit, then it is your own choice. I do have a lot to say-- I'm a fairly opinionated individual! I always have an open mind to the suggestions and opinions of others. How can you expect to learn and widen your horizons if you ignore and/or argue against anything that you don't agree with?

I have always been under the impression that the only people more outspoken then New Yorkers are those from Chicago. Went white water rafting in Colorado, and talking to the guide he thought it was funny how big the difference was between people there and Chicago. He said if people there were walking down the street and overheard a conversation they did not agree with they would just go about their way w/out saying anything, but in Chicago that person would let the people having the conversation know that their opinions are wrong and what the right ones are. Having lived just outside Chicago most of my life, it is pretty true.

I would rather have people express their opinions no matter how wrong I think they are. If a few people hadn't the world would still be flat and the sun would revolve around the earth.

Just be glad you don't live in my house-- we were just having a debate over 4th of July lunch with my neighbors about landfills, global warming, and the affect people have on the world

Yeah I would have had a few things to say... I was recently debating world peak oil (crisis IMO) with my brother and it is so frustrating. Instead of using logic, reports, or expert opinions, he cites one source and uses the volume of his voice to prove his point. It always upsets him because I always calmly ask him why he is yelling or if we can use our inside voices He hates that, and speaks louder

I have pretty much stopped debating dog issues with non-dog people because I find way to many of them way to close minded. I swear with some of them you could put 2,000 of the friendliest, non-aggressive pit bulls in the room with them and they would still say every last pit bull is vicious.

This wasn't on topic, but I did not like the topic from the get-go, so oh well.

My thing is there are 18 year olds and there are 18 year olds. Make sense? A lot of people are more mature for their age and have been raised to reflect that. If you have a good debate or a good point age is only a number. JMHO Minta

True, the world might not me totally flat, but FYI the sun does revolve around the earth.

Okay, I was born and raised in Chicago with AB, now am a crazy redneck from Nashville, TN. I dropped out of school in 6th grade.

Just playing, sorry I had to do it.

Dave.
