Perhaps we should have an article or a sticky about the responsibilities involved in breeding, etc. Then after politely answering the OP's actual question, we can refer them to that thread as a guide for their future and invite them to start a new thread if they have any questions about it because we are all clearly thrilled to talk about that subject, LOL. This way, a person who really wants to learn will be able to do so without feeling attacked. (ETA: and a person who doesn't want to learn may get the idea that we don't want them to start a bunch of threads about the virtues of rampant breeding.)

Kind of a "FAQ About Breeding" thing. And one of the FAQs could be "Why does it seem like everyone's jumping down my throat?"

That's a great idea...however, I don't think it was so much as "feeling" attacked...they WERE being 'attacked' - 'flamed' etc... I think it's important, as many have recognized, that the point being expressed was related to the tempered input provided at times before a question was addressed.

Good idea, Kade. I haven't much looked into the stickies in the breeding section, but if there's not one about "oops" litters and the bad things about them, then maybe there should be one.

I also think, if there's not already one, there should be a sticky on basic proper care for a dog, not on just feeding and making sure they are still alive from time to time. It really irks me that people complain about their dogs and end up throwing them outside for whatever to happen to them simply because of the owner's lack of education or motivation, when all it takes is a bit of understanding from the owner, or if anything, the dog could be rehomed. Kind of like, "there's nothing wrong with treating your dog like royalty and making sure they have the best care possible" sticky. It just seems like common sense when someone comes on here and asks "My dog ate this highly poisonous plant yesterday, and is now in a coma and frothing at the mouth.... What should I do? Should I take her to the vet?"-type questions. (Okay, so that was a little extreme, but along those lines. I'm sure y'all get it.)

Just a few thoughts....

I think this would keep the attackers back -- frothing at the mouth though they may be.

Yes, and perhaps a sticky called "Why does everyone here hate me?" with some basic statements about minimum standard of care to elicit a sympathetic response.

Don't we have one of those stickies already? from Crossfire Bulldogs? She also did a fantastic article with photos about Cesarian section on one of her bitches.

I haven't read all of that one, but I really don't think there is one about actually preventing a litter and what to do if you think your dog gets impregnated accidentally. But I guess there isn't really much else to say at that point.

First of all let me say that every dog I've ever owned was taken to the vet as soon as it was safe for that pup to be spayed or neutered. I do not breed and don't intend to breed in the future. Just keep in mind that for every reply to this thread there is an opinion and whether you agree with that opinion or not doesn't give you license to be less than kind to someone who doesn't agree with yours. Free speach is your given privilege and in order for you to practice your free speach you must allow someone else equal time even if it is totally opposite to what you believe without recourse. You can debate, yes, but keep it simple and keep the emotions out of the debate. Everyone wins and no one is hurt.

hi
i like the sticky post idea. it probanly is a very good chance to get some advanced knowledge for people who are new here....

i like most of the stickies anyways...
and i believe that a lot of people go to the internet to get information...
me too...
So I really love the different oppinions here, and like I learned here(in the staes) too, it is hard to find knowledgebale people in your (close)neighbourhood, so in this forum you get a big piece of knowledge and lots of different oppinions to make up your mind...
