I think that we ought to have a place where you can go to post if you have questions about training your dog....
Just a thought. |

Do you think that it is covered well enough through the behavior board? Or are you thinking more in terms of...rather than problems persay, just a general board for training information or sites....? something like that?
Methinks you're onto something. Carrie |

Carrie, you've got a great community here with widely varying of levels of expertise and maturity. Training can be an emotionally charged issue. The Behavior forum should cover any questions people want to post to the general community. IMHO a training forum should be moderated so as to do as little damage as possible to the dog. Hope I'm not out of line here.

Of course you're not at all out of line. But no one that comes on a forum is necessarily an expert trainer and even if there were, they may not be a good one. And by the very definition of a forum, it's kind of open to anyone. So, knowing that, as every member should, tips, advice etc should ALWAYS be taken with a grain of salt and investigated by the individual to that individual's satisfaction. Maybe a specific "training" forum should have some kind of warning at the top to that effect. There may be other message boards that are headed up by some professional trainers where people can come and ask them questions, but I don't think this board is meant to be that type. I go on a couple of other forums similar to this and I see lots of acvice that I think is terrible. But, after all, that is just the way they are. And I see lots of good advice from more experienced dog people. Carrie |
