New Ridgeback Mom!

That's right JACK RUSSELLS! lol Not Parson Russells. What the heck is with the name change? I actually know why AKC changed the name of this breed. It's because of the breed registering group the JRTCA. That club is against the AKC...hence the AKC changing the name of the breed!
Anywho... Jack Russells!! Click the link in my siggie to see pictures of Daisy! My JRT! I got her as a "gift" from my mother...whom knows the breeder personally! This breeder, Michelle Ward of Little Eden Working JRT's...is one of THE best JRT breeders in this country! She has Champions all over the country and Canada. There is a link to her site on my dog page as well. ENJOY! |

![]() They're amazing dogs.......hyper and smart, and ADORABLE! If you want a small "guard" dog, JRT are pretty protective. JRT lover. |

The Parsons has generally been accepted worldwide as the original type.[u][b]
Yup....we Americans already have enough of a bad reputation world wide for insisting on everything and everyone conforming to our ways when we are in THEIR countries. So, I guess for once, if worldwide a dog breed is called one thing and we're in the minority, it won't hurt to conform to the majority. Anyhow, a rose by any other name is still a rose. LOL. |

Chichi, as long as the males are introduced right I do not see a problem with it. But there might be. Just be careful about it. Also it’s easier if they are both neutered, but if your sister is going to show in Jr. then the JRT cannot be. Anyway good luck with whatever kind of dog you get.

The jack russell terrier and parsons jack russell terrier are two separate entities in most countries. The US is simply falling in line with other countries. The Parsons Jack russell terrier is the only type recognised as a "breed" by the kennel club in most countries. The parsons is the long-legged wire-coated variety (some smooth coats exist but these are in the minority).
The "football dog" short legged jack russell is really just a "mutt" in most places as their are extremely few dogs registered in any way and virtually none that there is any clue what is in them for more than 2-3 generations. This type of dog is merely somebodies idea of a jack russell mostly bred with next-doors dog that also resembles a jack russell. There are moves afoot in the UK to provide a kennel club registery for short-legged jack russells but only the wire-coated and straight-legged variety. The horrid deformed queen anne legs seen on the vast majority of smooth-coated jack russells will exclude a dog from registration. |

Bell Founder said it very well, Parsons are the orignail breed JRT's where bred from Parsons but bred to be a smaller dog, for ratting and going down rabbit holes, the JRT is bred for length rather than height, where as the Parsons should be the same height as length, they are both georgeous dogs. I have one of each! The JRT is usually more of a family dog, where as the Parson is more of a working dog, and have an even greater energy than the JRT (if thats possiable) Even though the JRT cannot be regestered they should still comply to the breed standered of the Parson the only difference is the height/length

Both JRT & PRT are able to be registered and shown here in Australia.
