Finally after 12 looong months, she is coming to California.

I first saw this girl over a year ago when she was an 8 month old pup a breeder in Ohio had decided was too big for her program so she was up for sale.
I contracted the breeder and made my offer. My offer was accepted, for 3 weeks we planned her arrival here in CA. My heart was SOARING I was so excited to bring her home. I would envision the arrival at the airport, how sick and frightened she would be.....all of the things I could do and bring to try and calm her. To make her feel welcome in her new state, her new home with us.
She was scheduled to come in on a Wed. The Sunday prior her owner called me with a "new" total. It was more then $300 over the agreed upon total (including shipping). She said it was because she had to purchase a new crate, the air tickets were more then anticipated, I needed to pay $175 for her gas to get back and forth tot he airport and her daughter had picked out what she described as a "gawd awful" neon pink collar that was so ugly she could not believe they sold them in stores and was glad she would not have to be seen with it....it cost $24.99....and was added to my tab. As were new food dishes, blankets and neon pink leash to go with the collar...oh and a sweater.

WHAT?!?!?!?

She figured that simply because I am from CA I had money to burn. I found out later she had been bragging that she found a buyer in CA who had money to burn........

nothing could have been further from the truth. We had to readjust our entire budget to be able to buy the dog at the price we had originally agreed on.

Again this was just over a year ago. A few months after the deal fell through and I had cried my stupid eyes out I heard she had sent the dog back tot he breeder who was gong to keep her.

Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine on line who lives in UT. We work together with our lines and look out for each other in the Rat Terrier community.
She shows me a picture of a beautiful new pup she just brought home. Cute pup I told her. Who is she out of I ask? She tells me...never heard of the dogs. So I go to the breeders site and look at all of their dogs. I see this female who I think is just to die for and reminds me of someone. I look and the name...I say a few expletives and then I type to my friend..."when you were out there did you see Glory....the chocolate female they have out there....did you see her?" She tells me yes and she liked her so much she bought her and she is now at her home in UT.

I filled her in on what had transpired a year ago....we came to an agreement. Glory who will now be called Sory is FINALLY coming home to CA, to me on May 27th. I will pick her up in Claremont at the Labor Day show.

Can you believe it? Fianlly....she is coming home to me.....

I don't believe in "luck", but I do believe in fate. It was just meant to be for some reason. She is beautiful, and am glad at least she has been well cared for. Are you going to breed her? You must post pictures of that precious girl. Can't wait to see them.

I honestly can not answer that one yet. She will have to be OFA certified for heart and patellas as well as show n to Ch in UKc so she has a ton to accomplish first. she is a complete outcross for me so that would be rgeat if everything works out like that. If not at least she is fianlly home!
