American Tunnel Terrier
Has anyone ever heard of them? I found a site that "breeds" them, and some look like they have Corgy ears, with a Boston face. Others have a more JRT face, but still large ears. They are supposed to only be 10-20lbs, and 10-12 inches tall. The site has a whole "breed standard".
I'm not saying they don't exist, but I've never heard of them. Has anyone here? |

nothing more than another case of "why don't you use the breeds that already exist that were designed for exactly this instead of making more mutts" imo.
just get a jrt or even a patterdale. |

I find it kinda interesting, although I do agree with Elegy. But if they are a breed and not just a mix...*shrugs* I guess it depends on how long they have been around, what they are used for, how they are being bred, and all of that stuff.
I can't criticize until I know the whole story. That's just me. |

yeah, but labradoodles are called a breed by some people and have a written breed standard. that doesn't make them a breed.
i haven't been able to find any good information on these tunnel terriers. they're not recognized by the american working terriers association. they're not recognized by arba. |

Never heard of them either and when I looked at their pictures I was unsure what I thought of them. It's really hard to judge a dog without seeing the real thing...for me anyway

I have not heard of them either and being involved with the terrier races and some go to group excersises...through friends....you would think I might have.
Do we know if they are at the very least UKC recognized? Edited to add, they used the Rat Terrier in the making of this dog....the Rat Terrier has been around for a long time however it has only been a recognized breed for about the last 25 years (UKC) and AKC FSS as of about 2 years ago. Mind you people have had Rat Terriers (refereed to as feists and even large TFT's back in "the day")from about the early 1900's.... So I would be willing to place money on the fact that this is not a recognized "breed" anywhere except perhaps UKCI CKC (continental not Canadian). I will however take this to some of the Rat people (sounds awful I know) who have been involved from the beginning and find out what they know. |
