Is your state legal to fight? posses? or spectate?
This is pertaining to the pitties...
Holy cow! I just noticed this list on her website. If you scroll about half way down,(**warning, graphic photos**) there is a section titled "The Laws Against Dog Fighting" and there is a green chart. F stands for felony, M is a misdemeanor and L is legal. It's legal in Florida to POSSESS a fighting dog... IMO, that's kinda stupid to allow someone to own a fighting dog but yet outlaw fighting.. *sigh* Thought this was interesting so any of you pitty lovers can check it out... The Laws Against Dog Fighting I would like to also say that this woman in no way support any illegal use of her dogs. She's a very knowledgable woman, and her dogs have many many titles. I'd like to order her "Fully Bully Magazine" some day ![]() |

I don't know *how* I ended up at this old thread, but dog fights are NOT legal in Florida. In fact, because of the illegal fighting problem, a breed ban against Pit Bulls went into effect about 1990. I left Miami in 2001. I doubt that they re-legalized dog fights! You can't believe everything you read on the internet.
Kit PS - Pit bull owners in Northern/Central Florida, correct me if you still match dogs legally. |

When you say it's legal to possess a "fighting dog" does that just mean it's legal to own a ABPT or pit bull? Or does it mean any dog (not breed, but individual dog) that was bred specifically to be used for fighting?
I don't see what's wrong in owning the dog... fighting it YES absolutely that's wrong, but owning it can't be a bad thing. Cass. |

I have no clue, but it confused me too. I guess they mean dogs that were specifically used for fighting. Doesn't really make sense if they mean you can own a dog that was trained for fighting, yet it's illegal to fight them. I wish people never fought these dogs.. cause now, people today, have turned into all the wrong thing, and do it inhumanely. Dog fighters back then never beat their dog, or treated it cruely... But I still do not condone it..
