People people people -SIGH-

Ugggh! Goodness gracious. I hate people.

No... seriously. Expecially the ones who think they know everything about a dog breed.

PIT BULL.

Augh, yes, here is a 'vicious' 'killing machine'! YESYES. It is it is!

All I have to say is BS.

I have a Pit bull. Tyson. Tyson the 'KILLER', Tyson, the 45 pound, all muscle, huge mouth, dog. He must be a killer! Auuuugh!

-coughcough- No. He is muscle. All muscle. But, y'know what? He carries my 5 year old neighbor girl around in my yard. He plays tug-a-war with her, yes, he might -sometimes- pull her around the yard when she trying to give him kisses. And his mouth, all that huge mouth is for is to keep that tongue in. That tongue that LOVES to lick me in my face, mouth.

I was talking to an older woman, she has a JR mix who had just had 7 puppies. Her 2nd litter. -GETTHEDAGUMNDOGSPAYED-
She said, "Y'need a puppy!"
Me"No... I have 3 already. But, thankyou."
Her"What kinds do you have?"
Me"I have a Chihuahua, a German Shepherd mix, and a Pit bull."
Her"Pit bull???? How could you dare own such a dog!? Did you know those dogs have killed little kids?"
Me"Tyson is a wonderful dog. Yeah, he is Pit Bull. I dared myself to own this oh so vicious dog. Yeah, I know this breed has killed kids. I also know Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Labs, German shepherds, Jack Russels, and many OTHER breeds have killed kids to. Got anything to say about them?"
Her"But, the Pit bull is one of the meanest dogs in the world. You can't train them dogs to be nice. They only want to kill."
Me"Hahaha. You're so funny. All my dog wants to do is kill is his squeky chew toy."
Her"That dog is gonna' turn on you, and kill you."
Me"Oh really? I don't think so. But, whatever you say."
--Then she wouldn't talk anymore--
Me"Well, I gotta go."
Her"Alright, but remember what I said about that dog -SHE REPEATS EVERYTHING-"
Me"Well, if you're tellin me the truth, all I gotta say is I gotta die somehow."

And walked away. I hate people like that!!!

Yall got anything like that??

Ugh, yes, almost every time I mention that I like Pitties I always hear, "But they are so mean!"

Since I don't own one, I don't hear a lot, but my friend had a Chow/Rottie mix once named Moe. She was a stray that was dumped at their house. She had been abused badly but you could tell that all she wanted to do was come up for attention, she was just scared to.
We eventually got her to trust us and she was the friendliest dog I've ever seen. Very sweet and submissive, probably about a year or so old. I remember when we gave Moe her first rawhide bone. She looked at us like, "What am I supposed to do with this thing?" and then this light came on in her eyes and she just sat down and started knawing on it.

Then my friend's parents had a get-together with friends and such. Almost everyone who came over said, "OMG, is that a Chow? She'll turn on you! Don't let your daughter near her, they are child killers!" Unfortunatly, my friend's parents bought into the BS and dumped Moe off at the shelter. I'm sure she got a good home with as sweet as she was and as young as she was (she looked like a fluffy teddy bear, so I bet that helped to)...but the ignorance of some people is almost terrifying.

I hate poeple like that it really absoultly makes a bomb go off in my head.

My cousins used to own pitbulls unfortunatly they didnt get them fixed in time (they had just made an appointmement and at the checkup it was determined dimond was pregnant) they had 15 puppies and they came over EVERY day to play with max once they had thier shots. of course max was a puppy too at the time.

They found them great homes but one unfortunatly was sold to a guy we all thought was great and a week later he had shot and killed the puppy he had bought.

They make great pets. My old neighbor used to do alot of obediance with his 2 and weight pulling and they bred them a couple of times once again they were always over and played with max. People thought i waas crazy for letting them come over and that i liked them.

I love this breed and it has such a bad rep. because of irreasponisble people who train them to fight and be mean

While I was at work, I overheard a convo between two of the other workers. One of them was a new girl, the other girl is "new" but she has worked there before, so she knows what's she's doing. I particularly don't like her cause she talks to me like I'm an idiot -- yet I have been working there for 6 months. I think I can handle the job girl.. LOL Anyhow - I was in a different part of the building, but it was a quiet day so I heard them talking. The new girl asked her why so many people hated pitbulls. It started out great "People are dumb, they don't understand them" Then I heard her say "But people are scared because they have lock jaw, when they bite someone they latch on and can't let go" *rolls eyes* Man-oh-man, if it were a good time for me to say something I would have. But not too long after that, the new girl got bit by sticking her hand out to push a dog away that was aggravating (dumby).

So far, when I tell people that Lugar is a pitbull mix, they don't shy away. Maybe because they know me well enough to know I'd never let a dog get aggressive? I don't know. I've had a lot of people steer clear of him though. If we are in line at PetSupermarket, and a woman will walk in with her kid/s... she'll look at Lugar, grab ahold of their hand and lead them all the way around the other stuff. People give him "a look" when we are out walking. *shrugs* I don't know what more people want to have proven when the dog is about to wiggle out of its skin cause their tail is wagging so hard! Lugar's tail will reach all the way around his sides when he gets-to-goin!

People are so ignorant. I hate the ones like you described.. they think they know it all. Yet, they've never even owned a pitbull to realize what an awesome dog they are.

I never owned a pit,but I know people with pits or pit mixes and one guy with two American staffordshire terriers - they are sweet dogs!! Very lovable and friendly.

When I mention I love bully breeds, people tell me not to trust them and all this. And never take my daughter around them...blah,blah,blah.I am so tired of arguing that these dogs are sweet, family pets (when they are trained and loved properly) and there are no bad dogs, just bad owners...but the argument is one sided.Ignorent people only listen to their own beliefs, judegments and opinions.

I recently met a woman who had a big sweet pittie. He had a huge head and an even bigger smile.I was petting him and loving on him and that is all he wanted, love! She was telling me that people cross the street when they see him and then some other people come up,not knowing it is a pit and pets him and once she tells them he is a pit, they suddenly take off! And a couple of times,to avoid issues she had to tell people (very ignorant and niave people) that the dog is a beagle mix and these dummies believe it.

It is sad and unfortunatly bully breeds are not very common here in Newfoundland,so that doesn't help.

When the rescue comes into work on Saturdays and Sundays (I work at PetSmart), one of the rescue workers brings her rescued border collie mix, Bandit. Whenever a pittie comes into work, she goes frantic "Wheres Bandit".."Get Bandit on a leash and keep an eye on him". You would think a person who works with rescued dogs wouldn't act that way. Every pit bull I see someone bring into work is the sweetest thing, wagging its tail at other dogs.

It's only ignorance that make people think that way. Just ignore them or better still, get a book on Pit Bulls and mail it to her to read.

I don't own a pittie but I love them... People have mistaken my Rat Terrier mix for a "pit bull" before though... This one lady took one look at him and said "That's a pit bull!" and "he's vicious!" and refused to go near him or pet him. At first I think she thought he was growling, but I explained about how he has an underbite and sometimes his lip gets stuck under his teeth (like this) and he can't help it but she kept saying how he was a "pit bull" and bad things about pitties... Sigh... I tried to tell her that although he is not a "pit bull" I have known many pitties and they were all wonderful dogs but she would not listen. The funny part is, a friend of mine has a dog who is a GSD/APBT/Husky mix and this same lady just LOVES that dog! She just doesn't know that other dog is part APBT!

People ARE ignorant and listen to any bad press the dogs get! I would tell that woman the other dog has part pit in him and see what happens.Cause obviously she loves on the dog,cuz she doesn't know.Because he is so sweet,it may change her mind.

I've come across many people wary of my Lucky just because of the fact that she's a Pit Bull mix. This is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known and it's really upsetting when people purposely avoid her just because of the bad image the media has given the Pit Bull breed.

What angers me the most about this are the people that ARE informed about how great these dogs actually are, yet they still decide that the stories in the media or a past bad experience with one paticular Pit is reason enough to punish the whole breed.
