Have you been giving her basic obedience or taking her to puppy preschool?
Oh and it's great you're getting her spayed.

Other members will be able to give you better advice, but I found some other threads that might be of use in training and dealing with aggression.

Hope that helped a little and I look forward to pictures of your pup.

Rat terriers can be anywhere from 12-18 pounds, but it all really depends on the weight of the parents. A pups full grown weight should be anywhere between that of mom and dads.

By the way, how is your Chihuahua? He'd be about the same age as your Rat Terrier wouldn't he?

Rat terriers really need obedience training. They have so much energy don't they? Your dog is guarding her food bowl from you. You might try this training. Take away the bowl and hand feed each kibble to your dog for a whole week. Make her sit or lie down for each kibble. She should earn her food from you. After a week feed her from the bowl again. A few times a day drop a yummy treat in her food bowl and walk away. Make sure she sees you do it. You can toss some extra special yummy treats into the bowl while she is eating her kibble too. Make sure you can drop them in from a standing position and don't put your hand in the bowl. She will realize that you are not taking her food away but instead you are giving her yummy special treats. After a few weeks try placing your hand in the bowl to give her the special yummy treats but be careful. Continue to hand feed her meals to her one or two times a week for a while.

Both those pictures are so cute, but they don't look like the same dog. I've never seen one that could change their spots like that. Anyway, I have heard they have the same disposition as a Jack Russell so that means they need LOTS and LOTS of exercise and keep their minds busy or they find things to do on their own and it usually means chewing anything and everything. You really do need to break the biting though and start taking your moms dog for walks when you take yours, and cut out the snack foods.

My Rat Terrier is full grown at 10lbs although she is a mini. The breeder said the full size ones can get up to like 28lbs I believe.
