Talking Macey's coming home today!

Well,
I am going to pick up Macey today. The boys are so excited they are eating their breakfast and they want to clean their rooms!
Wow! I haven't had a yorkie in a while since Pepper died. I am brushing up on obedience training and telling the boys about the new rules for having the dog. Such as don't feed the dog food you don't want to eat yourself. hahah they are stinkers when it comes to that.
Of course I don't feed my kids junk so, if it accidently happened the dog I am sure would be fine. I have been looking for several months now. But until I found this site and had suggestions on kind of where to look did I finally find Macey. I knew I wanted to rescue an animal and I didn't know how to go about it. Welp, I am off to Map quest to get directions.
Thanks everyone who helped me with suggestions.

Macey is home

Well,
I have her now and boy is she in some shape. Her teeth are in some bad shape. I was brushing them and one fell out. She had some hair matted all around her front teeth. She is missing atleast 3 front bottom teeth. She yelped when I brushed her teeth, but not when I opened her mouth. She is missing some hair on her rump, but that is probably stress or an allergy. Most likely an allergy. She is a little chumby. I asked the lady if she ever had her teeth cleaned. She said she was bathing her while I was on my way there. BUT when I got there her ears on the inside were so dirty. She said the "vet said" she didn't have ear mites. I also cleaned her ears out and found so much junk in them. She has defininately been neglected out of her bunch. She needs anti-biotics very soon for her mouth. I do want to get her spayed, but the teeth have to come first. Her eyes were only matted, b/c the woman never groomed her. Her eyes got so matted that Macey scratched one of the mats out and it took some of the skin off on the inner lid. I took outside to be in the sunshine and she didn't know what to do. She really likes the boys though. She barely even took maybe 10 steps outside. I don't think she has gotten to walk around too much. The lady kept saying she scratched her hair off, but I haven't seen her scratch once. She has been so mistreated all b/c she couldn't have pups. She would be a healthier dog if the lady would've just taken care of her.
She is sleeping now and she just stays in her basket. I tried to give her some water and she didn't take that. She seems to just want to eat, but I have to follow a schedule with the eating so I can aquaint her with where to go potty outside. Anywhos guys just pray for and I hope I can get her into a reasonable vet soon.
Thanks

Poor girl- I'm glad she gets a second chance to live a happy fun filled life. I'm sure she'll clean up nicely and within a couple weeks she'll be a yorkie again. I cant see how she can stand to mistreat such cute babies like that. My heart is out to the rest of the dogs in that place.

Did you get her at a rescue or animal shelter? Who was the lady who didn't take care of her? Was she a BYB? I'm so glad you got her out of a life of misery. When she starts feeling well, safe and loved, your going to notice a world of difference in her personality. They seems to bloom like a rose. Hope we get to see her soon.

Calgal, she got Macey from a BYB. See here: http://www.globalpaw.com/thread13020.html . The "breeder's" website is also posted there. It's terrible. Makes me so mad.

Czmommy, would you please report this woman? What she did to Macey is neglect, plain and simple. And you CAN help those other dogs, and give them better lives, if you report the neglect. I would photograph everything you told us about her condition for evidence, before you do too much cleaning up. Then call your local animal control or law enforcement and ask them what to do. Have your vet also document (write down) everything they see when you have her checked.

All our love to you and Macey. And our prayers she feels better soon (I'm sure she will under your care, and I bet your boy's enthusiasm and care for her does wonders as well!). Best wishes! Keep us updated!

Poor little thing...it's a blessing that you found her and took her home. How could anyone do this to an innocent dog....i wish you would report her, she deserves to go to jail for what she is doing...it's animal cruelty plain and simple.

Well, I have thought about reporting her. I did see two other dogs she had on the premises. They seem to be in great health and condition. It was a chi and a Bullie. I saw atleast four bigger dogs in kennels that were chain link fenced and then I heard the yorkies and the other little dogs barking from the puppy barn she called it. Macey looks like a very old dog. She is missing half her hair on both her sides. Kind of where she would be laying down. She doesn't walk very good and I haven't seen her run yet. Her teeth are in VERY BAD condition. One fell out while I was brushing her teeth. I called the lady and asked for a shot record and she said she doesn't keep dates on her shots. She does her own shots, which I have known several breeders to do that themselves, but they always had records. Macey's build and her mannerism seems that of a Senior dog. The lady kept telling me several times she didn't really know how old she was. After telling me the lady she bought her from said she was a year old and this new lady had her two years. So, she should be 3 years old. Her teeth are way to bad to be a three year old dog. She doesn't walk like a three year old dog. But, she doesn't snap at my kids that is what is so weird. Older dogs who haven't been around kids usually snap and are crabby. Macey is just so sweet and lets my kids carry her around. Maybe she is only seven years I don't know. I know her vet bill is going to be around three hundred. I have already gotten some estimates.
I will have to see if I have that in the budget. She never said anything about the teeth being so bad. But, who knows maybe she will be a different dog when we get that all taken care of.
She doesn't look anything like that sweet picture on Nan's website. She looks like she has been locked up most of the time.
I should report her. I should get pics of her. I guess I will have the vet write up a report. But that women would know it was me. She had some rough looking boys ...that were grown living at home. What if they come after me.
THey have my phone number. I will go ahead and document and call the acpca and see what I can do.
Thanks guys. I will post pics of her when I can.

Definately report it. If your dog is that bad, imagine what the other still trapped in there are like?

BTW...thankyou for taking this girl in. At least she has a chance for a good life now.

Cass.

Awww, Macey sounds SO lucky to be with you guys!

I also agree that you should report her. She should not be allowed to continue when she treats the dogs like that, and who knows if there are other dogs that are in her care in that condition. Poor little things. You should ask the ASPCA about confidentiality laws.

That's odd that you don't know how old she is. It'll probably be hard to tell with her teeth in such bad shape. Poor baby, I'm sure she'll improve so much with you guys.

Thank you for taking her in!

I agree. Take her to the vet ASAP and get everything about her condition documented.
No doubt in my mind that the dogs you saw were the only ones the lady wanted you to see, and there are probably additional nasty surprises in the "puppy barn". I also feel that Macey is probably a bitch that can't whelp anymore.... Yes, I think she has had puppies in the past and is merely used up... the "breeder" doesn't want to care for her anymore, because that takes money. Make sure you ask the vet to see if they can positively say that she has whelped or not whelped in the past.

Well I tried to report I call the local Animal Shelter and they are all in they are who I would report to in our city. They said the woman was out of any jurisdiction. She was out of county. Whatever that means. But, I did take Macey to the vet today and she is going to be fine. Although she will be on soft dog food for a while. She is on anti-biotic and canned She is sleeping a lot and I got the spot on her eye cleared up. They said her hair will grow back. She was self barbering herself. She said the hair was chewed off out of shear bordem and severe anxiety. I asked the vet if she will be able to be a happier dog and recover from everything. She said she would be a new dog when she goes through the teeth cleaning process. I loved the vet I am so glad I found her. I must have called twenty vets today. I am on a payment plan which cut the cost in half. I also got some help from the humane society. I saw Macey run for the first time today I was so happy. The kids were yelling with excitment. My kids actually have a doctors appt. this week. THEY BOTH had Tonsilectomies and Anoidectemies Plus TUBES in ears. It was so rough last week. I love my boys though I take care of them too when there sick. ahahh not just the dog.
I am hoping to get pics of her soon as soon as I figure out how to get my camera phone pics on here. I don't know we'll see. Thanks everyone so much.

It's so nice to see things are improving and that Macey's is in a wonderful home with people who will love her and give her all the care she needs. Bless you for this...you've got a heart of gold!
