What would you like to know about them? I'm not a Pom person, but I do know some general info about the breed. Here is some really good info on them:
Quote:
"The AKC Standard says the Pomeranian is "buoyant in deportment... inquisitive by nature... cocky, commanding, and animated."

That he is. Vivacious and spirited, bold and brash, the typical Pomeranian thinks he's "hot stuff."

He is a sharp-eyed busybody who must check out every sight, sound, and activity and preferably tell you what he thinks about it. He is delightfully alive and aware of everything going on around him.

Keenly alert to approaching strangers, the Pomeranian requires early socialization so that he doesn't become sharp or shrill.

Most are fine with other pets -- it is a tribute to their amiability that male Pomeranians can often run and play together with little or no bickering. Some Poms, though, are bossy and will attempt to chase strange dogs, regardless of size.

The Pomeranian is very bright and will look directly at you, cocking his head attentively. BUT he is not inclined to take orders from anyone whom he views as below himself in importance. Don't allow him to become possessive of his food or toys, and control barking from day one.

This proud, self-possessed little breed won't meekly submit to mischief or rough handling."
This is from the website www.yourpurebredpuppy.com You may also want to check out this link

for the pros and cons of the breed. I hope others will be able to give you a little bit more info about owning the breed. Good luck!

Sheeeeeeeeeding. My old roomate have chi/pom and she shed like the dickens. They have three layers of coat, so make sure you're comfortable dealing with year round shedding and a lot of grooming.

I LOVED my Pom - even with the shedding. He was smart, sensitive, comedic, and obedient. He's been gone for 6 years and I still dream about him

I've never owned one, but if it weren't for the grooming I'd want one terribly much. My favorite feature about Poms is the posture they take when you hold them-- it allows for super-comfortable carrying. I was walking down a street once and one came running out of a yard to greet my Yorkie. It wouldn't go back home, so I picked it up and brought it to the door to return it. As soon as I picked it up it sat up in that little position, and I was in awe of how easy and comfortable it made carrying the little one. Wanted to keep on carrying it home! Just had to gush about my favorite part... Heh.

Have you looked into a Pom breed club near you? They'd be able to put you in touch with breeders and fanciers in your area you could converse with, and maybe even visit. Attending shows could be helpful, as well.

This is a great breed. We have a 12 year old rescue (got her when she was 9). She's badass!
This breed was bred down from larger sled-dog cousins; think Keeshond type. They are long-lived, which is a definite bonus in Poms and toy breeds in general. They are double-coated and come in literally every color you can think of! The shedding is manageable, I think. Muffin blows her undercoat once a year. She is vocal and playful but a little snuggle bum too. The AKC standard calls for a 3-7 pound dog with a cobby shape. Muffin is about twelve pounds. For us this is good, she's tough enough to hang out with our bigger dogs! I have never seen her back down from anything.
Unfortunately there are a lot of Poms in rescue due to the indiscriminate breeding practices of puppy mills, and IMHO, this is where you should look first (check Petfinder) if you decide this is the breed for you.
Good luck!

Pom's are a great breed to own and they have two layers, never ever in 26 year seen one with three layers of coat. They should have a harsh undercoat and a harsh topcoat.

They don't moult that much just once a year and there coat isn't hard to groom either, just watch behind their ears mainly and their bottom.

They are extremely intelligent, I have done obedience with two of mine and cope well with bigger dogs.

Yay Poms!

I know a bit about poms, but only because I've researched them--because I'm going to get one of my very own!! I can't wait!
The main reason why I'm getting one is because I simply LOVE how they think they're so big and important (Okay, I'll admit, I became interested in them at first solely for their cuteness, but I researched like crazy afterward!)
I already have two dogs, but my parents are getting divorced ( ), so my mom and I will live in a duplex, and we'll have with us only two cats. So my mom will FINALLY let me get my own dog (a SMALL dog, she said), so I picked a pom
I've heard that males bark a lot more than the females, is that true? Cuz in that case, we're getting a sweet lil girl! I can't wait to pick one out from a shelter !
(Sorry that this post was mostly nonsensical rambling, but I'm excited. Understandable, right? )

It depends on the lines, some lines do bark more than others. We never had any barkers until we went into a certain line.

They are a brilliant intelligent little breed and they certainly put my Spanish Water Dogs in their place.
