Console car seat
My 5 1/2 pound Papillon wants to ride in the car on my shoulder. She won't stay in the back seat, so I want to buy a small perch car seat that sits on top of the console, between the front bucket seats, for when my husband and I are both in the car. My problem is that the small, Lookout perch says it's only for 4 pounds and under. The next size is for SUV's. which is too big for my car. Does anyone have the 4 pound size? Is there any extra room. Or does anyone know of another type that sits on the console?

While I can't answer your question on the console seat, but have you considered something for the back seat? They really make some great booster seats that you can use with the seat belt. That way not only does it keep your dog out of the way while trying to drive, but it will keep them safe in the event of an accident. Here is an example:

I agree the back seat is the safest place. Make sure the car seat has a strap that you buckle to your pups harness. Also, my advise is don't buy an expensive harness or car seat for the first time. My puppy chewed through 4 harness and straps and bit a huge hole through the cushion of her carseat in the first 3 months. I could hear her chewing back there but I couldn't stop her from chewing while I was driving. I filled her seat with chew toys but the little stinker liked the taste of her carseat more. You know the trully best solution is to put her in a crate that is strapped down with the seatbelt. She can have her chew toys in there and she is safest in a car accident. She will definetly cry for a while but she will grow out of that soon.
