Wink Hi, new poster, Chihuahua owner, toy lover

Hi, I have 2 smooth Chi's, would love to add an Italian Greyhound, a hairless Chineese Crested, a long coat Chi, and any other cutie who might need a home. My first dog was Turbo, a solid black Chi who I rescued from a brute when she was 4 months old with a broken hip. I was a cat person. I wasn't looking for a dog, but she needed help and I was chosen to offer it. I took her, healed her, and she was an absolute joy for 10 years. After she passed, I tried for 2 months to rescue a Chi. I couldn't find one. I found a breeder who keeps ill, unadoptable Chi's with profit from her breeding, so I helped HER rescue dogs. I got Sabella (Sable) and Comet, the cutest puppy ever. I put pillows and comforters in front of the couch and chairs so that fragile legs wouldn't get broken. They are now 5. Their first visit to the vet took 2 hours, not because of sickness, but because they were fighting over cuddle time with them in the back.
If you haven't spayed or neutered your dog, please consider it, they are healthier and at lower risk for cancer when altered. Shelters can give you names of vets who'll do it at minimal cost. My male lost NONE of his bravado after surgery, he can now think of other things than my female.

Welcome to Global Paw! Nice to meet another Chi owner. My own boy was a rescue, I adopted him from a shelter when he was about 5yrs old. He's now 16yrs old and my favourite lil' guy in the whole world, his name is Jesse James.

Preaching to the Choir here. We're all for spaying and neutering...as well as rescue.

Cass.

Hi and welcome to Global Paw!
I also have a short haired ('smooth') Chihuahua. She's 5 years old and her name is Abby (she's the dog in my signature). She's been an absolute joy to own. It's great to hear that you're involved in rescue and are for neutering dogs - big thumbs (or paws ) up to you!

I hope you really enjoy being a member here.

This is such a friendly and endearing group. Thank you, truly, for the warm welcome. It is a pleasure to meet you and your friends. I'll get a photo up to post soon; my tech-savvy guy will help when he returns from camping.

Hi Linnie. I send many sympathies to you for your loss. Turbo still visits me 5 years later, so I hope you get visits, too. She jumps on the sofa. Many times I felt something the size and weight of her land, I look and my other Chi's are sound asleep in their beds. She rubs the hairs on our arms the wrong way. She taps my legs when I am around food. None of this happened before she passed. The Chi melts me, too. I think most of us fall for the breed we are around.
