My Dog is the Greatest!!! :D lol
I am so proud of my puppy right now!
I LOFF her to pieces!!!So this weekend, I was away at a schooling show (for horses). Last night, while I was still there, someone attempted to "break into" my house. Now, we have come to the concusion that it was one of the neighbors friends that had the right house, and maybe he was drunk?? Anyways, they were banging on my door last night and trying to get into the house, and my mom was sleeping through it.... untill my dog starts barking and licking her face!! (**big grin**).My mom snuck upstairs to see what was going on, & to close the back windows, and my dog stayed right by her side, as if she was trying to protect her!!! I know a little 5 lb. maltese won't scare anyone off, but she certainly thought it would!! I am so happy with my puppy right now! She is a little watchdog!!! Sorry, I know it is silly, but I thought it was really cute!! ![]() |

Wow! Good puppy, I'd be proud too! Hey, the person outside doesn't know it's a 5 lb dog as far as he knows it could have been bigger. Better get those treats out!!!

Thanks all! I am proud of her!! It is so weird how dogs know about these things...How did Mandi know it wasn't just someone knocking on the door?? It is like she realized...I don't know how someone could live without a dog! ![]() |

Yep my little maltese rescued my husband and daughter last year from being attacked in a carpark by a group of louts..... My daughter tells me she has never seen Scrappy growl and bark like he did that night. I think dogs just know when things are not right and want to protect what is their's......I hope she is getting some extra pampering today ![]() |

Dog's know by instinct what the norm should be and they can sense bad vibes. Size just doesn't play a role in protecting their house and family. Big hug to your fur-kid. She deserves a medal.

Thanks all! Mandi has been particularly spoiled the past few days...but I would like to add to the love-fest, and let you know that Mandi learned a new trick today! I was so proud of her...it took her like two minutes, then later on I went back to see if she would do it without a treat and guess what!?!?!.....SHE DID!!!
I have taught other dogs tricks, and she is by far the only one that learns this fast! I LOVE it!! (for those who were wondering, I am a lot more apprecative of my dog know that I have gone away for the weekend [four days] and their dogs were bad....so I enjoyed coming home to my well behaved little protector!!! ) |

It's amazing when a dog's protective instincts kick in! When I was younger (9 years old) my sister and I were out walking Harley and a stray dog approached us. It wouldn't stop following us and seemed like it wanted to play, so I went to pat it and it jumped up and started to attack me. Harley was there when this all happened and he was whimpering and barking, and just as the stray dog was about to bite me on the face, Harley bit the dog hard on his ankles and the dog jumped off me immediately. It's scary to think what would have happened if Harley wasn't there! |
