oops i was under the impression it was the American Pit Bull Terrier that was the first registered by the UKC. please correct me if im wrong.. from the UKC website "Established in 1898, the United Kennel Club is the largest all-breed performance-dog registry in the world, registering dogs from all 50 states and 25 foreign countries" "The United Kennel Club was the first registry to recognize the American Pit Bull Terrier. U.K.C. founder C. Z. Bennett assigned U.K.C. registration number 1 to his own APBT, Bennett's Ring in 1898." "The Saint Bernard was recognized by United Kennel Club in 1920s. " |

I can't find the original report about the St. to be the first dog registered with AKC. Guess it must not be right. |

Yes, the APBT was the first breed registered with the UKC, actually, I think it was created with that purpose in mind!
As for this "this dog is one of the the tallest dog known and is in the mastiff group but DOESN't have the word mastiff after the name he is from great britan" I think maybe you're trying to refer to the Great Dane, but they're from Germany, so that can't be right. Hmm... the only mastiff types I know of from England have 'mastiff' in the name, or are not very tall (ie: Bulldog). Lanie And The Zoo Royal Star Estates freewebs.com/royalstarestates |

Irish Wolfhound? I believe they're a sighthound though, not a mastiff.
Hmmm...difficult. Cass. |
