Mommy to Mufasa and Krush

Ok, so my father in law FINALLY got a dog. Well, it's a 9 week old Dachsun(spelling, sorry!)/Pug mix
. I haven't seen it yet, but I am wondering what the "benefits" or downfalls of this breed of dog(s). I don't know, so I figured I would ask you guys, since you are ALL helpful. Any little bits of informatioin would be helpful. I wasn't too keen on the idea of getting this mix, but I guess he's keeping the dog, so I might as well gain some information, right??Also, once I get K9 to show me how to post pictures, I will get pictures posted on here of her so we can pick a name. Eddie, my father in law, hasn't picked one yet, so I am going to try to get some suggestions for him. Thanks in Advance!! |

W/ out proper handling they are prone to serious back problems. They should not be doing a lot of stairs. When you pick them up you have to support the entire dog not just the front. (Again back problems)
I am sure barrett will have more ![]() |

with mixes it's really hard to say what problems they will have or won't have. I have heard that pugs, along with other short snouted breeds like boxers, have breathing problems and overheat easily.
The dachshunds that I've know had to be on a strict feeding schedule, if allowed to free feed, they will gobble up everything in sight They are prone to back troubles. Most are fearless and will even chase horses. Please post pictures when you can, I'd love to see this mix ![]() Rusty, the dog to the right of my siggy, is a dachshund/boxer mix. |
