Sounds to me like he does not clearly identify what are his toys and what are yours. You will need to work with him so that he better understands this... You also, want to set him up to succeed, not fail, so remove all items from places he can reach that he cannot have.

We don't trust toddlers in china shops, because they could break something because they don't understand their cost, the same goes for your dog. He does not understand, so do not allow him to make a mistake. Place things up and out of the way. Place him in a kennel, indoors, when you are not able to watch him. Prevent him from making a mistake.

I agree with Novel and you can go one more step further when he's chewing on his toys praise him for a good job. Also when he finds something of yours to chew on immediately take it away and tell him no. Then when you take it away give him something he CAN and WILL chew on and praise him for it.

I'm sure with a bit of work you'll get the issue resolved in no time. Remember they are like kids you have to constaintly teach them the difference between right and wrong till it sinks in.

I also suggest obedience classes. Poodles love to learn, he'll adore having something to do...you might like to try agility as well, they're active little dogs. Plus...there is that old saying "A tired dog is a happy dog".

I guess that he is happy, but thats why I had him fixed, so he wouldn't mark or breed, If you have heard of this let me know, thanks

Not all males will lose the desire to breed. If there is a female in season, a male will still try to mate, it just may not be as strong as it was when he was intact. It IS still possible for him to tie with a female, he just cannot impregnate her. My boxer/GSD did this a few times before my Siberians were fixed. I would still keep them seperated to avoid either of your dogs becoming injured.

Next time, please open a seperate thread in the proper forum if you have something you need to ask. Don't place your question in someone else's thread that doesn't relate to the thread at all.

Thanks

Sounds like a dog who needs a lot of variety in toys, treats, walk routes and to get good and tired every day. Seems like a bored kid in dog form. Toy dogs still need a long walk. Mine are good for 2 miles or more. I hear your frustration and hope you find a way to make you and your dog happy.

If you don't plan to breed your dog it is medically better for him to be neutered. He is at higher risk for cancer among other things. My friends intact Cocker developed a huge cancer on his anus and died of liver cancer. Next vet visit please ask your vet the risks if you haven't already, and mention the behavior issues as well.

First, let me say that I am no expert on animal behavior. That being said IMO the little guy doesn't know the difference in his toys and your precious things. If you don't want him to chew it then put it away. As for yelling at him...NO NO NO. You are only confusing him. Do you really think that he knows what you are yelling for? I agree that obedience classes are a great (not only for your dog but for all dogs). It will not only help him but also you because it will help teach you how to communicate with him so you won't be frustrated. As for not having him neutered...I agree with dogma 100%. Please talk to your vet!

Good call rottielover! I am a big believer in crate training! I think that it helps in so many areas of training. My three love their crates.
