Frontline Plus

Can anyone tell me if they have had a dog allergic to frontline plus, I put it on my Fernando and within three days all his hair came out on his head. I took him to the vet and they gave him a shot, hopefully his hair will grow back and he won't look so scary LOL. If you have had the same, please contact me.
Thanks

I've heard a lot of bad things from people that have used this product, and a lot of good. It's with any medication, some do ok while others don't.
I don't take those risks, especially since anything you topically put on them will get into the bloodstream. I just go with the fragrances I know will keep fleas, ticks and mosquitoes off.

This is a fairly common reaction to this chemical combo. I agree with calgal that there are many more homepathic ways of flea and tick control. Google holistic, natural or homeopathic flea and tick control and you will get a wealth of info.

eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary and citronella oils all repel fleas and ticks, and there are others. Here are a few sites that will help you decide which way you want to combat the problem.

I haven't had that reaction with any dogs (greyhounds) that I've used it on (LOTS of fosters plus my own), but that's not to say that any one, individual dog might not have an issue with it.

I've found the best way to control fleas/ticks is with the chemicals. Never had any luck with natural remedies.

Good luck to you! I hope you find a solution that works for your pupper.

My breeder used it on Dylan my first Chi just before we got him and it made him very ill. His eyes were wobbling from side to side and he was just so poorly I thought we were going to lose him. She wasn't going to let me have him because there is a condition Chi's get that gives similiar symptoms (forget the name, think it's hydrocaphilis (sp?) Anyway I insisted on having him because I suspected that it was the Frontline having heard it could do this in other dogs and, yes, took him to my vet and he confirmed it for me. Dylan is nearly two and has never had any other probs since. So I now never use it on my Chihuahua's, I think it is because they are too tiny to cope with the drugs used, but I use on my Labrador and he is fine with it.

my new little chi Annie lost the hair on the back of her neck too
Just the other day I spoke with a vet about frontline and he said many people have stopped using it as it isnt effective enough anymore. I tried revolution on Isabella and she was up for hours vomitting so I am going to look into Calgals post deeper and check out those sites

That's my experience as well...One of our dogs had fleas (strangely enough only one of them) and Frontline seemed to do nothing. Advantage took care of the problem.
