After looking at her site today, I did notice that some of her past puppies were short-tailed or bobtailed also. So, she had to have known there was a defect in the lines she was breeding, but still breeds. I dunno why in the world she keeps breeding from those lines, she's selling these puppies to people that think they are "unique" or "champion" bred!

Money. Greed. Selfishness. The same reasons the majority of people breed. It is sad that reputable, responsible breeders are in the minority.

I know, that is so true! We are lucky to have found a great small breeder near where we live. I have became close friends with her, and we talk about her breeding and her dogs alot. And, she seems to have the right state of mind.

She (our breeder) was wanting 700 for one of her pups, with full registration. But, we couldnt afford a price that high, and we despertely wanted her red sable puppy. So, I talked to her about it, and she lowered the price to 500. She was so willing to work with us, and she said that she knew the pup would be going to a great home, so she was more than happy to work with us on the purchase. I mean, she really loves her dogs.

What? She's breeding more 'bobtail Chihuahuas'? That's just so rediculous. Some people are so selfish.

That's great. I'm glad you found someone reputable. It's so difficult to find them nowdays. Usually what you find are people breeding 'just pets' and people who don't show their dogs (something extremely important for companion breeds) or test them for genetic problems. It breaks my heart.

Can't wait to see more pictures of your new addition when you finally get her.

A bobtail Chihuahua sounds a little strange. I do not see why people would want to breed one?

With her selling this puppy it is diqualflied by Akc, she cannot show this pup , this is one of the main defects and can be passed on, . and this pup should be sold with limited papers, saying she cannot be bred or showed, also when she is sold she should be fixed. This is a very bad breeder and people should not be buying from her if she is producing pups such as these. The standard for a chi is the tail should be moderley long and curled over the back, just touching , if it is long haired it should be a plume. never cropped or bobtailed or carried between the legs .$1200 for a chi pup around here is normal, the average is around $800.

Exclamation bobtail chi's

I seen a pup I just loved with green eyes! she is stating natural bobtail and trying to pass it as normal and rare and asking 2500 for the pup to boot...I would love this little girl...not breedable for sure because of the tail..see her pics at ::Mod Edit - kennel site deleted::

That particular kennel you posted is a backyard breeder (small scale irresponsible breeder). Do not buy from them.

The fact that they advertise "teacup" Chihuahuas proves it. There is no such thing as a "teacup" anything...the only people who use that term are backyard breeders and puppymills. Reputable breeders will correct you if you use it.
If you want a Chihuahua pup, contact the Chihuahua club in your country or state and get a breeder list from them. Make sure the breeder tests for genetic disorders (these are not simple health or vet checks) and that they can show you proof of this.
It may seem easier to get a pup from one of these disreputable people who will just hand over the pup if you have the cash, but the money you'll spend on vet bills in the future (genetic problems may not show up until the dog is well into adulthood) will cost you a fortune.
My own boy suffered from a heart problem (heart problems are common in Chihuahuas) and it cost a tonne of money for his care and meds before he died. Do NOT take the easy way out by buying a dog from one of these crappy breeders, you'll regret it and it will put money into the pockets of these people to make more dogs suffer.

Although rescue isn't for everyone, I urge you to look to rescue as an option. My Chi, although most likely from a bad breeder to begin with, was from rescue and he was the most amazing dog I've ever had in my life.

But if you don't want to rescue...contact the Chihuahua Club and get a list of breeders, like I said before. You may have to wait longer for a pup, but the dog will most likely be with you for more than 15yrs of your life (my boy was with me for 12yrs but he was 17yrs old when he died), so waiting a little to begin with won't kill you. And you'll benefit in the end.

Cass.

Never noticed this one before. Chi's are not born with short tails, these pups that she's producing must have been docked. The only other thing that it could be is that she is producing pups with spinabifida. Not very nice for the puppy owners either way!

I could say that my Chihuahua mix from a shelter is 'unique'.
