gettin my puppy!
im am SO elated!
I spoke to my breeder right now and Liza, the Mommy, has had two males last Wednesday!!! Im happy because originally she was going to keep one for a show prospect which meant I had to wait longer to get a puppy (probably around 16wks). But now she is not so she said that I can get one at 12 weeks! Now the wait seems alot less! I am just TOO EXCITED! Squishy will be here SOON! She did ask for a deposit for however much (she said most may send 50 to 200 hundred dollars<thats pretty low compared to the actual price hahaha! She doesnt cash the check until I get the puppy though) so that she knows I am serious about getting a puppy as she has quite a few interested in this litter. Is this normal for a show/reputable breeder? anyway just wanted to share my happiness. If i dont i think i might explode! thanks |

Congratulations!! Can't wait to see some pics of your new pup! Have you decided on a name or are you going to wait and see what his personality is like?

thanks guys! Yes, he will be my Squishy! By the way he is a Maltese. The wait has definately been really hard! Looking for a good breeder was hard too! I even found one close by not 3 minutes from where I worked. She said she showed her dogs but advertised Teacups...blah. Im very happy with the breeder in Tn it will be worth the 13 or so hour drive.
thanks again. I wil be posting pics! |

Congratulations!!
Are you going to possibly be showing Squishy? and yes, the deposit is pretty normal. You can ask her if it is refundable or not (usually not) and it holds your place as interested in a puppy. Sometimes called Good Faith money. I have already taken deposits on Spirit's first litter that is a year away. With her, we have had so much interest that I implemented the deposits so that I could weed out those that were semi-interested to those that were really interested. I will take in 6 deposits total, or 3 more, to make an average size litter number. If she were not to have that manypuppies, I would return the deposit, or ask if they would want to wait for a different litter. It's amazing in today's society, that there are still people, good ones, that are willing to wait for the exact dog they want from the breeder they want. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling all over. |

hi!
SO there has been some change of plans. I have already discussed the possibility with my previous breeder from TN and she understands. I found a show breeder that lives near my work. I had emailed her for a little while before going to visit her. My original plan was to just make friends with her so when I brought Skwooshee(squishy, skwuishii, squyshee, skwyshie??) home she could help me with him, grooming, socialization, ect. They had suggested that when I first told them about my plans to get a Maltese pup from TN. I really liked my breeder in TN and wanted to get my pet from her but I just...I fell in LOVE with Squishee! I laid eyes on him and he was mine. But I mean...does that make me a bad person? Well this lady was DELIGHTFUL! When I got to her house she hugged me and invited me in to meet her dogs. When I came in her home was VERY clean and she had about three or four little X pens right in her livingroom. She had two puppies in one, two or so females in the other, and the other two each held a single male dog. Both were very oily and were in wraps. WHen I came in she was in the middle of grooming an 8 month old male. She was oiling his coat down and wrapping it up. She showed me a little how to care for a coat like that and explained how she was teaching the dog to stack ect ect. She brought me to meet all the dogs. All were really well cared for and had gorgeous coats. I have NEVER seen any Maltese like that come into our salon or ever! They were beautiful! Anyhow I spent 8 hours at that womans house talking about showing, vaccinations, grooming, food, ect. She feeds Natures Variety raw food with Innova kibble. I met the two puppies both male. They were 14 wks old and very social happy, bouncy dogs. But once I picked one up it became calm and very loving. I got lots of kissed. And then one of the males just CHOSE me. He climbed into my lap and thats where he stayed. He kissed me repeatedly and refused to leave me! The next day the breeder met my dogs and my fiance, I signed some documents, and I came home with my Skwooshee. Here he is: this is the first day I had him he was a little shy: ![]() I love him SO much! He has the greatest personality! SO he is actually on a pet contract but I am kind of getting interested in showing him. I havnt discussed this with her yet but I wonder if it is possible that she can change it from limited reg. to full registration. (I wouldnt mind paying money I just want to know if it is possible.) Since she doesnt expect me to neuter him until his puppy teeth are out(in case I have to remove retained teeth which can cause major tearstaining) I was thinking I can have her evaluate him as he grows. If I do show him it would probably be hand in hand with her. She originally suggested it and invited me to go with her to shows anyways. If not then he will be neutered immediately and I will love him JUST as much! Just wanted to share my excitement! THANKS! |

he is a funny one! I LOVE HIM
Dont get me wrong he isnt afraid of anything...not my dogs, not the toilet flushing, or the car ride but he is reserved! Its just that he thinks twice before he acts! He was WONDERFUL for his bath and drying in my salon. Not scared at all! And I know its loud in there...all the barking and activity. He does well. He is just kind of...calm I guess. When we approach his kennel at work he gets all wiggly and dances on his hind legs! I love him! |
