Awww what cuties!
I'm not sure what you may have read on here in old posts.. so I'll just briefly flip through mine.My very first pug was Daphney, a fawn female, that was given to me on Christmas eve by an old boyfriend. She was a wonderful pug, so smart, knew many tricks, was a breeze to housetrain. She came from a breeder in Las Vegas. She had a heck of a pedigree.. many many Am. and English chs in her background. I still have her papers and things that I flip through. Tragically she was killed just over three years ago, she was barely three years old. I was at work, roommate ran an errand. When she came back, Daphney was dead in the living room. The ex roommates boxers had killed her. They'd lived over 2 1/2 years together, never ever a problem, then that happened. I miss her very much, I still cry my eyes out when I look at her pictures, her ashes. A year before Daphney died, I wound up getting Oscar. He was maybe 4 years at the time. Oscar was kept outside in a dirt backyard in Las Vegas, 24/7. He belonged to a man that was gone all the time, driving trucks, and his wife did not like the pug. So he was left outside. A neighbor of theirs got a hold of me, and one night, I picked him up. The family did not even want to be bothered enough to meet me. They did not care. So I've had Oscar 4 years now. He's a great ole pug. So mellow and sweet. Daphney died on a Monday. That next Saturday, my dad shows up. He'd driven 8 hours one way to give to me Winston, a fawn pug puppy my parents bought for me. That little puppy was the best medicine for me. So hard to dwell on a death, when one has this bouncing little puglet to take care of. So many nights I held my pugs, crying over Daphney. Immediately after Daphney's death, I moved to a different place, I had to get away from those dogs, I did not ever want to look at them again. I was there a short time at a new place, then moved up here to Elko, NV (northeastern nevada), to help out my folks, and also to get away from the heat. Too hard on pugs. They do much better up here in a cooler climate. Last February, I saw Bentley at the local animal shelter. He had been found wandering along a highway, in the middle of nowhere between towns. In between the many coyotes we have, and the cars on the highway, it's a wonder he lived. I was 2nd on the list to adopt him, I did not get him then. But in June, the local all breed rescue emails me, said they knew of a black pug needing a home ~ was the same pug. He had been adopted, then passed between three homes in 4 months. I was his 4th (and LAST!) home. If only I had been 1st on that list, he would have been spared all that bouncing around. He had too much energy, and is a very needy dog.. no one wanted to deal with him. He had/still has some separation anxiety issues. I would too, after going through all that. But he's a great pug. Winston & Bentley often walk a few miles with me, they are so healthy and active. He's so high energy, reminds me of a border collie in a pug suit. He is obsessed with fetch... He'll play fetch continuously until I have to just keep the toy or ball, to make him stop and rest. LOL So that's the basics on mine. I'm a big fan of pug rescue. More than likely all my future pugs will be rescues, although, someday, if I find a black female pug, from a reputable, ethical breeder producing high quality, spectacular pugs, I may make that one exception, and buy another puglet. We'll see. But my rescue boys.... I just can't imagine more loving, thankful dogs, than them. ![]() |

I am soo sorry for your loss with Daphney. It is true though that another pug often helps mend the hurting heart. Your bunch sounds wonderful. I will fill you in on the details of how my pug sisters and brother came to be. The summer before my Junior year of High School my then best friend started dog searching. She had not really even looked at Pugs when one day her parents surprised her with a fawn male pug, Sullivan. My family fell instantly for that lovable pug and began a search for one. When then got Lillie, a fawn female. She was the runt of the litter and is now only about 12 lbs. Lillie was that only pug in the house for many years. My sister got a Shep/Husky mix, named Lexie, but no more pugs. My mother looked into rescue but found that since Lexie was such a big dog, many rescues did not want to adopt out to a house with bigger dogs. So buying another pug was the only way to go. Fast forward to my Junior year in college, when my parents brought home Laci. She came from a breeder in Augusta Ga. She is also fawn but darker since her father was a black pug. She is so quirky and I call her my Widga Ma-get, Widget for short. She loves fetch as will and is quite addicted to her ballies. Then this past June my parents added Lanie, fawn as well. She came from the same breeder as Laci. I lived at home this summer so Lanie has a very special place in my heart. She is definetely my special Puglet. Leo, the black baby, was an unexpected addition. My mom was interested in a black baby rescue pug but he was already claimed by someone else. Suddenly, the was an angry buzz over pug pups place for sale on E-Bay. The owners lived near my parents and my mom emailed them saying she would help them find good homes for the pups and E-bay was not the way. She went to meet them and low and be hold Leo came home with her. I don't live at home now so I miss my puglets everyday. I look forward to pictures and will post more soon.... |

Oh gosh.. The most adorable fawn pug is in the shelter here. A little male named Pugsley, he's about 2 years old and SO CUTE! I carried him around and cuddled him for about 30 minutes.
I'd take him in an instant if things with Ripley were more stable. I'm afraid I'm going to have to get pictures of him this week. He is tooooo cute. |
