That is true...they say you never own a pug; they own you.

Lub Pugs
I started raising pugs after I bought a 4 year old female that was supposedly infertile so the breeder just wanted her gone.
I may have bought with my heart and not my head but she was in such poor shape I couldn't leave her there. A simple diet change and ear cleaning she was a new dog. My best friend had a male pug and they loved each other ...low and behold 9 weeks later I had 4 babies that Roxanne wouldn't even look at let alone feed clean or nurse. The last pup born in the litter was 48 grams..he had no suck reflex negative on bowel sounds and would go into puppy SIDS. I kept him in my shirt pocket slept very little did alot of mouth to snout and low and behold at 4 weeks he became able to eat on his own. However he would not stay with his brothers and sister hence the name Houdini =) We decided to keep Houdini because anything you carry in your pocket for 2 weeks is yours by rights....also he didn't realize he was a dog so he became my shadow. Roxanne I gave to a wonderful lady in a wheelchair who lived alone and she now has a constant companion. Thus started the idea to raise more as the first litter I am still in contact and made friends out of the peole I sold the puppies to. We later bought Peanut who once again I wrote the check just to get her out of the place she was living. I flew to Dallas a month later and bought Tounge Po (she always has her tounge out). Sadly Peanut just had her first litter ( well one pup) and she dropped it and left it to die. I haven't quite got over the tears and guilt I feel over this because Houdini did have contact with her and I never in a million years would have thought she had conceived. I love all my dogs (even my husband;s Golden retriever who is a nurse maid to orphaned pups), I have taken in several orphans strayed up nights and tube or bottle fed them. Right now I have Peanut who is lactating and if anyone knows of any orphan puppies she has the cholostrum but the window will be close in 24 more hours. email me at ishnala30@yahoo.com Thanks Amy |

"Did you buy your pugs from a breeder or adopt them from a shelter?
I'm still trying to decide which way to go. I really want a puppy, but I also feel sort of guilty for buying a dog when there are already so many out there without homes." luzzy Luzzy, As a pug breeder I would suggest that if you truly have the time to spend house training and socializing your pug get a puppy. Personally I will not let my puppies go to homes where people are not financially and mature enough to take care of them. They are great for children though. But an adult has to be in charge. Also good breeders will have you sign a contract of health. I garauntee the dog's health. They garauntee to vet checks ect...and if the ever for any reason want to sell or have to get rid of the dog it comes back to me for retraining and placement. Yes I am a pain in the butt breeder but I get so many referrals as I breed for health and pet quality ( even though my bought dogs are papered i do not offer papers with my dogs ) I sleep easier knowing they will never end up in a dog mill. A pug is a Pug....if you aren't going to show them then the papers are worthless and like I said I sell to people wanting healthy pets not showdogs or breeding machines. Ask your breeders the right questions ect...find out if they breed for the love of the breed or the money and you will find a breeder in your area that breeds for the love of the breed =) Good Luck and once you go Pug you never go back! |

I've been PUGGED
Hi there,
No need to feel lonely any more. I am definitely a pug person. 2 pugs and a litter due any day!!! Can't get enough of those faces. Seeing as this is only my second post EVER, it will take me a little while to get used to this. |

They're Heeeeere
Kricket had her litter on Wednesday July 27. 5 pups, 1 fawn female, 2 black females and 2 black males. All are doing great. Mom is doing great, doting on those pups like crazy. I would post pictures but I haven't figured it out yet.

Pugs are my main breed, I call them my "heart breed". (Despite the Skye Terrier in my avatar, LOL) I've been in Pugs nearly 15 years now - I currently have a houseful of rescues. I have a soft spot for the senior rescues. Pugs are so emotionally high-maintenance though, I don't consider them dogs, but rather little human/monkey hybrids!
Definately not for everyone, but perfect for me! |

I don't own a pug, but we (my family and I) are searching for one. So if you know of any Pug that needs a home by the Lafayette, IN area, let me know!

We wanted a younger one (around 2-5 years or younger) and it has to be good with kids, cats, and dogs. |
