Chihuahua in heat
I have a 10-month old chihuahua that is currently in her first heat. I was aware that the vulva would swell during heat but her breasts are swollen also. Is this normal? She has almost stopped bleeding but the breasts are still swollen.

Sounds like you have nothing to worry about. Every dog that I've known to go into heat has had obviously swollen breasts for quite a while even after the bleeding has stopped. Of course, if you want more reassurance, you can always give your vet a call!

Thanks so much for your replies. I feel much better now. I was not aware that swollen breasts were part of being in heat. I'm going to have her spayed as soon as this heat is over so I don't have to deal with this any more. Thanks again.
