Hi Everyone
My mom has a Shih Tzu named Sweetie and she is a doll! Shih Tzu's are so good with children, I walk 3 Shih Tzus at a time for someone and they are always so happy to see kids, they totally let the kids fuss all over them and love every minute of it. I brought my mom's Shih Tzu to obedience school for her and she is so smart, she picked up everything very fast. You all picked a great breed! Lisa ![]() |

Hi Tiffany,
I just brought home my first shih tzu puppy on tuesday,March 27th. His name is Willy. I've been reseaching this breed. Much of my research has been focused on feeding. I am NOT feeding him commercial dog food. He is getting good home cooked food. I'm making long grain brown rice cooked and mashed with baked chicken. The good chicken without growth hormones etc. He is doing great on it! I'll try adding some cooked veggies soon. He sleeps in a medium size pet carrier at night lined with newspaper with a blanket toward the front. His first night he did poop in there but last night he didn't poop or pee! I put him in his play pen first thing this morning and he pee'd on the paper. A big puddle o pee! He cried both nights for awhile but I would just talk softly to him and say,"it's time to go to bed." I wanted to take him out soooo much and hold him but I decieded that wasn't a good idea. Willy was born in February. This is a wonderful breed of dog Tiffany. May you be blessed, Wee mama |

I have a shih-tzu. Her name is Mea and she is just such a sweetheart! I love this breed. When my human children get a bit older I would like to get another Shih-tzu from a rescue. I have a home doggie daycare business for small dogs and also care for quite a few. I just love this breed. I love the way they look and thier personalities.
I was originally going to let my Mea's hair grow long but seems for some reason she did not inherit that beautiful luxurious hair I have read about and it just got long and stringy. So she has a "puppy cut" I also was going to let her hair on face grow and keep in a top knot but the hair btwn her eyes would not grow long enought to reach up to the top knot. So I keep it cut short so it does not poke her eyes and leave a buch long enough on her head for her pony tail/semi-top knot and of course the pretty bow! You all have really cute shi-tzus wish I could post a pic of mine but maybe one day. Mine is basically brown she has all different shades of brown and reds running through her coat. |

awww, I'm glad to see that there's a good few of us around who have this remarkable breed. They're such sweeties, there's no denying it!
Gizmo just had his 2nd birthday in July, hard to believe he's growing up so fast! Truly, it seems like yesterday he was nipping at my toes with his razor sharp puppy teeth. He's much more laid back now. :-) |

Another Shih-Tzu
Hi, I also have a Shih-Tzu, Riley, whose 6 months. He's a wonderful companion and has brought a lot of joy and laughter to my life. We just finished his last puppy class today, and he goes on to the next level in a couple of weeks. He's also the only dog I've ever had that enjoys going to the vet's!

I have a 6 year old Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso. He is the best little dog in the world. You would never guess he is almost 7, he is still as playful as ever. I also got the runt of the group, he only grew to 9 lbs however... lol. But he has so much personality and is just a role model dog. He is very well socialized with both dogs and all ages of people. He is also extremely smart, knows alot of tricks and is great at agility! Very good first time dog! He was my first dog too! but yes the potty training can be very trying! Took me 3 months, and not for lack of trying. And then after that we had about 1 accident a month for at least a year. Never had an issue since however
