Hi Tiffany! I love the pic on your messages...soooo cute!
I am owned by a shih tzu He is just 8 months and called Charlie. I have never had a shih tzu before Charlie came along but always wanted one in the back of my mind. I just LOVE the breed now and have learnt so much about them. I am even hoping to get him a little brother and sister once he is old enough.Do you have any other shih tzus or just the pup that you are going to be picking up? I did put a message in this section a few months ago to find some shih tzu owners and i got a couple of replies but i dont think there are many of us about lol Sharon and Charlie ![]() |

I have a little Shih tzu X named Mocha. She'll be 4 next month, but she still acts like a puppy of course. She's my first and only Shih tzu and she's such a little darling, I hope to have more one day. Good luck with your puppy, I can't wait to see some pictures!

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one!
I've loved Shih Tzu's for as long as I can remember. They have the best personalities! Right now Gizmo is my only one, he's my "first" dog, so kinda taking it slow. I wouldn't mind getting another if I had more time and room in my place though! He's a male tri-colour, was the runt of his litter. There's something sweet about the runts eh? ![]() |

Gizmo is just lovely looking! Charlie was the cheeky one of the litter when we went to look at him thats why i chose him lol keeps me on my toes
you chose a good breed for your first dog though they are just so loving and willing to please (although toilet training can be hard with them) i have learnt so much about them through sites like these they are so helpful! i would like a little bro or sis for charlie too, i think i will just have to wait and see what happens Sharon and Charlie |

I'll stay out with him for half an hour with treats and anything to bribe the poor thing to just go to the bathroom and he won't do it. I know Rome wasn't built in a day but yeesh. The money I'd give to be able to speak dog for even just 10 mins to explain to him how to do it. I know he wants to, it's just getting there. Any pointers would be fantastic, I'm all ears! |

lol uh oh gizmo. I seen your thread about this the othr day actually. All i can say really is just keep at it and he will get there EVENTUALLY, the treats is a good idea but he needs to actually go the loo out side in order to get them. What i done with Charlie is ignore him when he had gone inside the house and just remove him from the room with out a word. When he did manage to go out side i would fuss him like mad and give treats and praise like there was no tomorrow. Are you paper training him? if so you can try moving the paper closer and closer to the door till he is eventually using it out side as well.
To be honest with you i know a coupld pf people with tzu and 2 of them are 1 and the other is 2 1/2 now and they still go potty inside sometimes. Charlie doesnt any more thank fully and when he does its in the bath lol (its a long story) I hope you start making some progress with the little guy soon. How old is Gizmo? Sharon and Charlie |

Oh he's still a puppy, so I'm not expecting any miracles or whatever. I've read that the breed can be stubborn, which is exactly what he is when I bring him outside!
He won't go because he doesn't like it out there lmao. So he'd never go and I'd wait and wait and wait and wait, ready to give praises if he did go, and we'd be out there for a half hour at a time and nothing. Although this morning he finally peed outside and I praised him like he won 1st place at the fair lol. I'm hoping now he'll get the right idea, as for having accidents inside it's par for the course, i was just worried that he'll never want to go outside. I guess it's too loud and cold out there for him right now ![]() |

Your baby is such a cutie~!
I dont have a Shih Tzu - but I do have a Lhasa Apso (which mine looks alot like yours I think) I'm having a hard time finding ppl that have Apso's, so if you want to chat about your baby, then I'm here to chat. Don't know much about these "long hair" babydolls - but im here to find out anything I can. Hope to hear from you soon. |

Oh Abby is a doll! I love her dummy, my Charlie has one too lol He is a Shih Tzu. I have learnt a ton of things from this and other forums like it too. Sometimes all the web sites you look at and all the info you get just isnt enough dont you find that? I find it better to be able to ask questions in a more direct way. maybe thats just me

![]() I'm glad there's getting to be more Shih Tzu/Lhaso owners! Kinda nice to talk about care for thier coats and whatnot with someone who's going through the same thing ![]() |

This is my first post....
I have a 3 year old shih tzu named Emily. I previously had a shih tzu male named Tommy, who passed sadly about 5 years ago. Emily is adorable, however, she has been ruthlessly kidnapped by my mother! They have bonded very much, and because of my moms heart condition I think it does her very much good to have Emily around, so I let her keep her. I have gotten another dog now, a Labradoodle. He's 14 weeks old and is named Boone! I have pics of both but I can't host them anywhere ![]() |

Hello Tinaweena
Welcome to GP! You can upload pictures to the members gallery, just go to your User CP.Nice to see another Shih Tzu owner kicking around! Even if it's an owner by-proxy. They're dolls eh? I don't doubt at all that Emily is great therapy for your mother. I love the Shih Tzu temperment. |
