Great Pyrenees

Pyreneeses are HUGE dogs, if you didn't know!Originally, Great Pyrenees are said to have been descendants of large dogs which roamed the mountains of Asia thousands of years ago.

My Great Pyrenees looks vicious, but if you look closer you can tell that she is just a big lump of fur!

it's hard for us to give our Pyranees a bath because she'll just get dirty again. She's still adorable

You're welcome....in my opinion, the only time a dog looks "vicious" is when he has hackles up, snarling, showing teeth, and running for me!

Pyrs are great! There are a couple that come to the obed. school & both of them are big lovable oafs! One of them is a certified therapy dog & keeps kids company at the local medical center when they are getting their chemotherapy treatments.

That is soooooo sweat! My dog couldn't do that, she is way too dirty and (without meaning to) she knocks people over when she's too excited! And you're right, these dogs are big lovable oafs!

I have a Great Pyrenees (mixed with Golden Retriever). He is all Pyr except his color! lol We rescued him without knowning much about the Pyr breed but have never regretted it for a second. He's nothing but a furry couch potato (that or a chew toy for my bulldog!)

Cool

Other than their massive shedding, Pyrs are great dogs. I had a Pyr pup go through 3 of my training courses this year(basic/intermediate/CGC prep). He's a SDIT (service dog in training), & recently passed his CGC test with flying colors.

~*~*And he says 'Rhiannon don't go.... Rhiannon stay'.... And he still cries out for her.... 'Don't leave me.... don't leave me now'....*~*~

We've adopted a new Great Pyr puppy. He's eight months old and about 29" tall. We call him Tank. Here's a photo taken of him a week or so ago... He likes to lay down in the slough to cool off.

People who don't know him won't get out of their cars when they see him uncurl off the porch. He's just BIG! They don't seem to notice that his whole body is wagging

I fostered a Great Pyr a few years ago.
My boss had adopted her when her owner passed away. Unfortunatly she didnt like anyone near her when she was eating, and my boss had 2 sons under the age of three at the time, who liked to watch. She didnt like that, was very nice about telling you to back off though. So I took her in till we could find her a new home.

The funny part was, my apartment didnt allow animals... try hiding a full grown great pyr!!
Had I had an apartment that allowed dogs I would have kept her in a heartbeat. She was an amazing dog.
