I don't own a Boxer *yet*, but when I move out in a year or so I am seriously considering getting one. I have it narrowed down to either a Boxer or an American Bulldog. All of the Boxer's I've met I've loved. They are such puppies!

The hardest thing about being a pet owner is when we have to let go of a loved one. When Harvey died it devistated my son. I asked him one question...are you better off for having Harvey in your life? He smiled and said he wouldn't ever forget him and I said that's the best tribute to a loyal pet!
Harvey was one of the GREAT ones! =)

I miss my wiggle butt! I had a boxer/shepherd mix (he had a stub!), that was my heart dog... I miss him terribly. One of the best dogs I've ever had. I own a boxer/pit mix now, and he is wonderful! He has the personality of a boxer to a 'T'. Such a goofball!

My Sarge aka Bubby

But I LOVE boxers -- I will definetly own a purebred someday (a rescued one at that!)

I was definetly his slave! Haha

Sentry - He really didn't *like* to swim, but would if that meant he got too far away from me. But I tried him on the float, and he layed down like it was the best thing ever... He was in paradise! lol Then he popped it when he trampled over top of it to go see my mom's friend.

It's sad though, when I see boxers come into work that have unstable temperments... Most all of them are great when they play, but they lose weight so fast! We have to limit their play time and up their food.

Boxer lover HERE!!!

Ritz, I totally agree with you about the choice between Am Bulldog and Boxer. My best friend has an American Bulldog and Al and Molly are so alike it's incredible. Just more of a smoosh face on that Am Bulldog.

They seem to be very popular. What are the traits of the breed?

Well, they do box,LOL They are very front feet users! Mine was hyper for a period of two years so lots of excersize. He was very obedient but did love to run when he had the chance. He could do agility and was fearless. He also snored like a son of a gun,LOL
He was very great with children! He did have a bit of prey drive that was easily corrected, he thought it was fun to chase cats. Mine needed to chew so soup bones were our best friend. He was not destructive but did TP the house once in a blue moon,LOL Over all he was a super family pet! I would own another one in a heartbeat!
